For Mums

For Momsdiet has been prepared to take care of future mothers, as well as breast-feeding women. In cooperation with the MediDiet dietetic clinic, we have made a special diet especially for moms and their children.

In case of pregnant women, the following products should be excluded from the diet:

  • soft cheeses: blue, processed cheeses, feta, mozzarella, brie
  • unpasteurized milk and foods with unpasteurized milk
  • smoked fish or meat
  • raw fish raw/undercooked meat and poultry
  • minced meats, hot dogs, ready-made delicatessen products, lunch meats, that are not processed in high temperatures
  • raw, undercooked seafood, shellfish
  • raw/undercooked eggs
  • cakes/creams/desserts based on raw eggs
  • raw sprouts
  • ice cream, peanuts, peanut butter, processed stone fruit

One should also beware products rich in vitamin A, so carrot juice or liver should not be consumed too often.

Regarding calories for pregnant women:

  • In the 1st trimester of pregnancy, calories should not be increased and should be calculated based on a woman's daily intake
  • In the 2nd trimester, 360 kcal should be added to the daily intake
  • In the 3nd trimester, 475 kcal should be added to the daily intake

In case of breast-feeding women, a light diet is used at the beginning, with gradual introduction of new products such as cabbage, garlic, onions and peppers. As far as bread is concerned, wholemeal (but not whole grain) bread is recommended from the beginning.

As for the caloric content for breastfeeding women:

  • 505 kcal is added to the total energy demand
